Annette is a Senior Legal Associate in the Family and Divorce Practice Group.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.). She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in August 2020, and is a member of the Law Society of Singapore and the Singapore Academy of Law.
Annette has acted for clients in the following reported Court decisions:
- Successfully acted for big 4 accounting firm, KPMG Services Pte. Ltd. in the High Court in relation to a breach of contract in the case of KPMG Services. Pte. Ltd. v. Pawley, Mark Edward [2021] SGHC 54.
- Successfully acted for an Indonesian wife in child relocation proceedings where the Court ordered that the children shall be relocated to Jakarta. She also successfully defended an application for a stay of execution of judgment, both of the above in the case of XBE v. XBF [2024] SGFC 67.
Annette’s other notable experience in the area of family and matrimonial law includes but is not limited to the following:
- Successfully acted for and/or advised numerous ultra-high-net-worth clients in divorce proceedings substantively exceeding S$100 million. The upper limit has been omitted to preserve client confidentiality.
- Successfully acted for husband in relation to Court proceedings to vary care and control order and maintenance order.
- Successfully defended an application filed by wife to set aside Court order to vary care and control order and maintenance order.
- Acted for client, owner of multiple companies in divorce proceedings, estimated net worth of around S$100 million.
- Successfully acted for Managing Director of bank in personal protection order (PPO) proceedings, and obtained PPO for an indefinite amount of time against spouse.
- Acted for Managing Director of bank in divorce proceedings.
- Represented various clients in discovery and interrogatories proceedings.
- Advised client in relation to Court proceedings to vary ancillary matters order for charging of monies in ex-spouse’s CPF accounts.
- Acted for client in Court proceedings in relation to interim custody, care and control proceedings, and international child abduction issues.
- Acted for client in relation to injunction to prevent removal of child from Singapore.
Annette has attended trials, hearings, and mediations and has represented individuals, banks, and companies before the Singapore Courts and local and international arbitration tribunals. Apart from the contentious family and matrimonial matters stated above, she has represented clients in a breadth of uncontentious family and matrimonial matters. She has advised clients on simplified divorce proceedings, drafting deeds of separation, pre-nuptial agreements, post-nuptial agreements, and Wills. She has advised clients on filing probate applications, and applications for letters of administration. With regards to commercial matters, she has acted for clients in relation to contentious patents and copyright matters, commercial law matters, bankruptcy and insolvency, employment and construction law matters.
On the side, Annette is also interested in international law and refugee law. Prior to being admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore, Annette held a permanent position at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for 2 years. She was a researcher to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons where she conducted research and drafted thematic reports which was presented to the United Nations Human Rights Council and United Nations General Assembly.
Annette is passionate about community and pro bono work. She has represented clients as a volunteer lawyer at the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS), advised individuals at legal clinics, and has represented clients in family law related Court proceedings as a volunteer lawyer at the Law Society’s Pro Bono SG.
