Our Partners, Mr Justin Chia, Mr Charles Ho, and Mr Kok Yee Keong, conducted a CPD workshop on “Mediation in the Strata Community” for the Association of Strata Managers (ASM) on 19 March 2025, which was attended by 60 participants.
The programme included training on the key elements of mediation, its process and techniques. Participants learnt about uncovering interests underlying positions, active listening with looping and re-framing, Best Alternative to A Negotiated Agreement (BATNA), generating options and drafting settlement agreements. There was also a role play walkthrough.
It is hoped that, with some understanding on the mediation basic process and techniques, the managing agents can value-add in their services to MCSTs, such as mediating disputes between or with residents or contractors.
The Association of Strata Managers (ASM) is a national association that protects the rights and safeguards the interests of Management Corporation Strata Title (MCST) managing agents in Singapore. Since its inception in December 2012, the ASM has remained committed to providing an interactive platform for strata management firms and property-managing agents in Singapore. To date, ASM represents 23 managing agent firms and more than 500 managing agent individuals. The members collectively manage more than 1,000 Management Corporations across Singapore. For the committee at ASM Singapore, securing the rights and interests of all members remains the foundation of the Association. For more information: https://www.asm.org.sg/
