Eversheds Harry Elias merger helps Eversheds recognition as part of the global litigation elite

Global Litigation practice debuts on The Lawyer’s prestigious Top 50 list

Eversheds-Sutherland has been included in The Lawyer’s Global Litigation Top 50 report for the first time, ranked 8th by number of lawyers and 43rd by revenue. Eversheds Harry Elias, the Eversheds Sutherland office in Singapore, became part of the global practice following their merger with Eversheds Sutherland last year. Eversheds Harry Elias has 38 litigation lawyers, including eight arbitration specialists.

As the only new entrant to the list, Eversheds Sutherland has been recognised as part of the global litigation elite and commended as one of three firms that is leading the way in its use of technology.

Over the past year, the global Litigation team has invested in a number of significant partner hires in key jurisdictions, while the Singapore arbitration team has doubled in size. The practice is advising on a broad spectrum of clients and matters, including national governments through to commercial and construction arbitrations. Singapore is the leading dispute resolution centre in South East Asia, and the base for the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.

Paul Worth, Co-Head of Global Litigation commented:

“I am delighted with the contribution that Eversheds Harry Elias has made to our performance in The Lawyer “Global Litigation Top 50” this 2018. This reflects both our continued success and the high quality of work we are advising clients on. The report also comments on our progressive use of technology for litigation work which is a great thing to be known for in the current market.”

Philip Fong, Managing Partner of Eversheds Harry Elias, said:

"Eversheds Harry Elias has long been acknowledged as one of the leading dispute resolution firms in Singapore. Our reputation in Singapore combined with the global Eversheds Sutherland network delivers real benefits to our clients as a growing number of local litigation matters involve international elements.

We are pleased with the progress of our Disputes practice arising from the merger. In particular, our Arbitration practice, headed by partner Francis Goh, has also benefited substantially. Our disputes teams are active on a number of ongoing arbitrations, spanning commercial arbitrations in Singapore and the East Asia region, to State-to-State disputes (led by arbitration veteran Rodman Bundy), often supporting other Eversheds Sutherland offices around the world”.
