Commenting on the divorce proceedings, Clement said that in contested divorce proceedings, where some or all issues require court oversight, proceedings could take anywhere from nine months to two years.
Then, there is the rise in “grey divorces”, where parents separate past the age of 55, leaving their adult children to navigate the fallout. This inevitably has an impact on children as well, because late-stage divorce often heavily involves adult children in the proceedings.
“In these cases, adult children often develop a negative perception of one parent, taking sides and supporting one to the exclusion of the other,” Clement added.
