Family and Matrimonial Law Partner Ivan Cheong comments in the Straits Times article titled "Simpler way to take parent denying child access to task"

Harry Elias Partnership Family and Matrimonial Law Partner Ivan Cheong shares his thoughts with the Straits Times on the new measures planned by the Family Justice Courts (FJC) for a person to take a former spouse to court for failing to allow access to the children after the breakdown of the marriage despite being ordered to do so. The article titled "Simpler way to take parent denying child access to task" was first published on 20 July 2020.

Lawyer Ivan Cheong said: "Parents have raised concerns for all too long that some parents appear to be able to breach access orders with impunity or little consequence." 

Mr Cheong felt that a combination of hard and soft enforcement methods should be used for maximum effectiveness.
