Eversheds Harry Elias Litigation and Dispute Management Senior Associate Yi Siong shared his insights on The Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA) at the recent AmCham’s “Dealing with the Dangers of Fake News: POFMA and its implications on Business” event.
Yi Siong spoke alongside esteemed speakers such as Jamie Menon, PS Engage, Sumana Rajarethnam, The Economist and Graham Stewart, Klareco Communications. Jennifer Chan, Facebook moderated the session. During the panel discussion, Yi Siong gave an outline of the types of conduct that attract criminal liability under POFMA as well as the scope of the sanctions available.
